Military personnel are in Greece under the FRONTEX mission to prevent, detect and suppress cases of illegal immigration and trafficking in human beings

The GNR last week detected a vessel with 58 migrants near the cape of Prasso, Greece, last week, and the people were all rescued.

GNR reports that, through the Coastal Control Unit, on Thursday it detected a rubber boat with 58 migrants alongside Cape Prasso, on the island of Samos.

Detection of migrants was possible through a real-time thermal imaging camera.

“It was possible to verify that it was a rubber boat, carrying 58 people of different nationalities, and they were rescued,” says the GNR note.

The operation was carried out as part of the mission of the European Border and Coastguard Agency (FRONTEX) to prevent, detect and suppress cases of illegal immigration and trafficking in human beings.
